Save-A-Lot Foods

I have never been a fan of Aldi's... Anyone have some insight on Save-A-Lot? I imagine it's about the same, crappy quality...

mm whatcha say?

hey madradhair, me again. i think i want to dye my hair abit darker. not necessarily brown, red or black, but a slightly darker blonde? i feel as though this colour doesn't look good on me at all, and i normally wait about 6 weeks instead of 4 to get my roots done because i want it to grow. my natural hair colour is a dirty blonde but when i was little it was lighter. i don't want it loads darker, just by a few shades so my roots blend abit more.

this is me:

a few more pictures )

so can anyone post pictures of what shade of blonde i should get? or should i just keep it how it is and use dry shampoo when my roots come through so they blend in more?

Getting rid of Atomic Pink is, in fact, possible

Hay guys,

After having bright pink(ish) hair for a year and a half, I decided to change things up and become one with autumn by doing a natural reddish color instead.

Look at my hairs because I'm quite pleased that this didn't end up a fried mess, or some nasty puke-based color. Pink to natural red! )

This process was not actually that daunting (although the stripping/bleaching routine is extremely tedious), and my hair is completely fine and healthy even though it felt like it started to turn into mush while the bleach was on my head. I did use some kind of deep conditioning shit... and yeah, I'm pretty happy with it, so I thought I'd share.

Gonna cross-post this to dyedhair because I roll like that.

I know you guys are tired of request posts, but I really need your help!

hey! This is me in madder, radder days. After the blond, which I loathed, I went back to a natural warm light brown. all good. Then I wanted to go light, warm brownish red for fall with Wella permanent hair dye in Light Copper (red/gold base). I know Wella tends to develop dark but I was not expecting my hair to turn out BRIGHT cherry red that looked cool instead of warm! How can I fade this quickly? I've heard dish soap, dandruff shampoo... any other ideas?

ty all!

I have a roach problem.  Personally, I think they are coming in from the drains.  We put down boric acid and traps/poison etc. and I can swear it's gotten worse.  I am at wits end.  I don't know what to do.

Writing a letter of appeal to insurance company.

I'm not 100% sure if I should ask this question here, but I'm going to anyway and if it isn't something that is relevant, it can be ignored or deleted.

A year and a half ago, my aunt had gastric bypass surgery in order to lose a large amount of weight. Her medicare gap insurance fully paid for the procedure because it was deemed medically necessary since she had been trying to lose the weight for many years with minimal success due to other medical problems she has had for awhile.

A year after the surgery and nearly 200 lbs lighter, she was approved again to have both of her knees replaced so that she could walk without the aid of a cane or wheelchair for the first time in a very long time. Now that she's lost all the weight, her skin doesn't have enough elastic left in it to shrink up, so she's carrying a lot of extra weight in skin and it's pulling on her knees, back, hips and other areas still making it difficult for her to walk without the aid of a cane.

All of her doctors agree and have written letters saying that the skin removal surgery is a necessity and it would greatly improve her quality of life. The insurance company refuses to believe it is anything but vanity, since it's a cosmetic procedure, and has refused to pay for any part of it. My aunt wants to appeal the decision and I'm trying to help her write a letter of appeal.

My question is...how do we go about doing this properly? I've done research and so has she, but none of it seems to actually be pointing how to actually phrase the letter and how to make it the most compelling it can be. Even with so many doctors to back her up, she still wants her side of the appeal to be compelling.

Has anyone had experience with this type of thing? I would appreciate any guidance in the matter. She has 30 days left to appeal and really no idea where to begin. All the websites I've found that say they do a guide to writing a letter seem to be too generic. Is too much detail a bad thing? I really have no clue.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you!

cat food.

our cat is adopted.

when we got him, he had tummy issues. probably due to eating garbage, which we still catch him doing.

we started him on a canadian brand of cat food called ORIJIN. it seemed like a good food. and it only costs $20 for a big bag.

then we took him to the vet, who told us to buy the vet food instead. medi cal hypoallergenic gastro-stuff. it is $44 for the same bag. i think the vet food is good. although, i do still notice that he has diarrhea sometimes.

is there a cat food we can buy that is similar (aka hypo and gastro and good for him!) but less expensive???

Five months ago I started the dental braces process. I am paying $5700 out of pocket for braces, since my insurance does not cover them. I paid $570 down (I think, or an amount close to that) and now pay $160 a month till its paid off. I started about 8 months ago. A co-worker mentioned since its a medical expense, I might get extra money back for taxes? Anyone know anything about this? I usually just do my taxes on TurboTax. This is costing me a fortune and if I could get extra money back on my refund, that would be amazing. I live in NY if that counts for anything.

Hey poor_skills!
I recently went to an AmeriCorps conference and took a workshop on living on a budget. I thought it was a great training and want to share what I learned with you. Check out the blog post I wrote about the workshop: http://servingandsurviving.blogspot.com/2009/11/surviving-on-serving-budget.html

has anyone used this?? i'm almost platinum but i have a few parts (like ends)
of my hair that just refuse to lighten completely white! i do use a purple
shampoo but i was wondering if this would lighten/remove more of the brassy color.

[info]moldy_tangerine in [info]madradhair

oh hai

so, I have pink and platinum hair. But the pink ALWAYS bleeds into the platinum. I section the hair from each other every shower (so annoying) and it still somehow bleeds into each other.

not only do I prefer it to not bleed into the blonde, but I also need it blonde for my job.

I bleach the bleedy-pink out, but that's really starting to take a toll on my hair.

does anyone have any suggestions for a product or a technique or ANYTHING that can help me out?
not a very good picture of the front

and the only picture of how my hair looks in the back:

and hair that is around my face or skin needs to be blonde, because that's what you see under a hat. So, in case you can't tell by the pictures.

Thaanks!

Darn.

So after processing my hair so many times throughout the years, once again, my hair is breaking off. Thankfully it looks reletively healthy, but I have horrific split ends. I dyed my hair a nice red about a month ago and the color has almost completely faded out, except for the newer parts of my hair. It's time for a trim! I don't want to go too much shorter but it depends on how many split ends are found. I can cut my hair, no problem, but I can't exactly see the back of it so... I have to go in for that. With that said, I may just go ahead and have something done with it. Any ideas?

Here is a picture of it when it was freshly dyed. My hair grows pretty fast, so it's slightly longer than this.

Thanks
xx

Hair Help

I have been trying to grow my hair for years now but everytime it gets a little below my shoulders it literally stops. I know it's because of the past damage from straightening and dyeing. I also have the ever so annoying white dots from breakage/ split ends at the tips of each strand that always come back even after trims. I know i need to be serious if I actually want my hair to grow so I have quit straightening and coloring (except one last time to get back to my natural color). I guess my questions are: 1) any tips for growing hair out that's had lots of previous damage and 2) any good shampoos, conditioners, or deep conditioning treatments that can get my hair back in healthy condition?
Thanks in advance.
